Budget and campaign recommendations
The outputs of evaluation inform budget and campaign decisions.
Conceptual representation
Campaign management workflow
The application is where campaigns are managed once they exist, tying the previous stages together in one workflow.
The Problem
Running paid advertising by hand is repetitive and decision-heavy. Campaigns have to be created with consistent structure. Performance has to be read and interpreted. Keywords have to be found and revisited. Budgets have to be adjusted against what the data says, and market context shapes all of it.
Each task is manageable alone. The cost is doing them continuously across many campaigns, which is what makes the work a candidate for automation.
Product Architecture
The product is a complete web application with a React interface and Node.js services. Its main integration boundaries are external:
- The Google Ads API, for creating campaigns and retrieving performance information.
- Google APIs for keyword discovery.
- AI agents, which analyze campaign information and support optimization.
Keeping these as explicit integration boundaries separates what the application owns (its workflows and interface) from what it consumes (advertising data and capabilities from external services).
Illustrative workflow. The explorer above is a conceptual diagram of the campaign lifecycle. It contains no real campaign data, Google Ads screenshots, or performance results.
Campaign Creation
Campaign creation was automated. Rather than assembling a campaign manually in an advertising console, the application takes campaign inputs and creates the campaign through its Google Ads API integration.
Automating creation makes campaign structure a product decision instead of a repeated manual task, and gives later analysis a consistent shape to work with.
AI Decision Workflows
AI-agent workflows analyze campaign performance and support optimization. Performance information is used to evaluate budget changes, and keyword optimization is part of the same loop.
This describes the shape of the workflow: performance data in, evaluation, then recommendations that inform budget and campaign decisions. The approval or execution policy for those decisions is not described here, and nothing on this page should be read as claiming that changes were applied without review.
Keyword Discovery
Keyword discovery uses Google API data to find candidate keywords. Market research feeds into the same decisions, so campaign choices are informed by more than the account’s own history.
Keyword and market inputs, together with performance information, give the evaluation stage a broader basis than any one of them alone.
Engineering Ownership
I built the application end to end: the Google Ads API integration, the campaign creation workflow, the AI-agent analysis and optimization workflows, and the keyword and market-research integrations. I also led the development team on this engagement, as Senior Full-Stack Developer and Team Lead.
Technical Considerations
The points below are engineering considerations for systems of this kind. They are not claims about implemented features.
General consideration: API limits. Advertising APIs enforce quotas and rate limits. Workflows that read and write at scale need to be designed around them.
General consideration: data quality. External data can be delayed, incomplete, or revised. Decisions built on it should account for that.
General consideration: auditability. When automated analysis influences spend, a record of what was recommended and why is valuable for the people accountable for it.
General consideration: model reliability. AI output varies. Treating it as one input to a decision, with validation around it, is safer than treating it as ground truth.
General consideration: approval boundaries. Where a human reviews a recommendation and where automation acts alone is a product decision that should be explicit.
